Summary of Services Offered

Corning's Gaffer District's design consultations provide the tools to help building owners improve the physical assets of their buildings. Design consultation includes working with property owners to find the best and often most cost-effective solutions to make the exterior inviting to customers. Often a simple coat of paint and awning replacement can change the way a block of the property feels. Our services are provided at no cost to downtown merchants and property owners. The assistance is broadly offered and includes providing façade color choice recommendations and illustrations, signage plans, rehabilitation advice for building facades, written recommendations, resources, and drawings of facades with material colors selected.
 
All recommendations are specific for each building and property owner, or the streetscape's historic qualities and/or budget parameters. Services are not limited to the Market Street Historic District.

Grant Opportunities

Facilitating the Crystal City's revitalization. With assistance from the New York Main Street Program, property owners can receive funding to improve their building, providing an environment that attracts new business investment. The program, facilitated by Corning's Gaffer District, is intended to stimulate reinvestment in "main street" buildings to address issues of code compliance, energy conservation, accessibility, and to provide affordable housing and job opportunities.

Logo and Sign Design for New Businesses

Small businesses are crucial to the vitality of our Historic District. To help establish—or update—a business' look and feel, Corning's Gaffer District offers complimentary logo design for new and existing businesses. Our in-house team of graphic artists will ensure your business looks its best by upholding high standards of design and preserving historical character, resulting in increased traffic to your business and the District as a whole.
