Title VI Compliance
Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 prohibits discrimination on the basis of race, color, or national origin in programs and activities receiving Federal financial assistance. The City of Corning has developed this LEP (lack English proficiency) plan to ensure that LEP persons have meaningful access to their programs and activities by developing and carrying out a language implementation plan pursuant to the recommendations in Section VII of the DOT LEP Guidance that addresses the identified needs of the population it serves. The plan (1) identifies LEP individuals who need language assistance; (2) provides language assistance measures; (3) addresses staff training; (4) details how to provide notice to LEP persons; and (5) addresses procedures for monitoring implementation and updating the plan.
