"We are thrilled to have My Shawarma as a part of the food scene in Corning. In addition to delicious offerings in a great atmosphere the transformation of their outdoor space is a fantastic part of the welcoming streetscape on the western end of our downtown," states Coleen Fabrizi, Executive Director of Corning's Gaffer District.
The concept for My Shawarma was born from the experiences of owners Gabe and Shena Rossettie, who encountered the hospitality and unique flavors of the Middle Eastern table through friendships and travel. As home cooks they experimented with recipes from Lebanon, Egypt, Syria and Iraq, to develop the lively and multicultural menu that eventually became My Shawarma. They teamed up with General Manager Troy Goho to make My Shawarma a reality. Troy is a Paul Smith's College graduate with extensive culinary and restaurant management experience. Troy and all the staff at My Shawarma are responsible for the consistently high food quality and clean environment that My Shawarma's customers enjoy.
"Market Street's burgeoning food scene and walkability made it a natural fit for our fast casual Middle Eastern restaurant. My Shawarma is based on the idea that people shouldn't have to travel to Brooklyn or Toronto for excellent Middle Eastern street food," says Gabe Rossettie, co-owner of My Shawarma.
The owners believe that shawarma deserves its place in the pantheon of casual ethnic fare, alongside burritos, sushi, ramen and other mainstays in the American food scene. My Shawarma is about offering an exotic culinary experience native to the streets of Jerusalem, Beirut, and Cairo, with an uncompromising commitment to quality and customer service.
Gabe and Shena Rossettie live in Corning with their children. Gabe practices law at Rossettie Rosettie & Martino LLP.
