Corning, NY - Corning's Gaffer District is pleased to announce the kick-off of a new Hometown Heroes Banner Program.
Banners will be hung along Market & Bridge streets from Memorial Day through Labor Day. This program is designed to honor men and women who have served or are serving in the U.S. military forces.
Each individual banner will be unique and honor a specific "Hometown Hero." The red, white and blue banners will carry the name of the service person, their branch of service, their photograph, the name of their hometown and the name of the banner sponsor. Banners will be the same design on both sides.
The banners, which are very limited in number, are being offered on a first-come, first-sold basis without service branch, geographic or other limitations.
"We are a diverse community within the Gaffer District and we wanted to represent that diversity within this program," explained Coleen Fabrizi, executive director of the Gaffer District. "After all, every veteran is a 'hometown hero.'"
The cost of each banner is $125. Individuals as well as businesses are welcome to sponsor a banner. Contributions toward the program will also be accepted.
Deadline for submission is March 28, 2014.
Application forms and instructions can be picked up at Corning's Gaffer District, 114 Pine Street, Suite 202, Corning, N.Y., weekdays from 9am–4pm.
