Corning's Gaffer District Announces a New Gallery on Market Street

Corning, NY - Corning's Gaffer District welcomes a new fine art gallery, 60 East Gallery, to Corning's downtown. The gallery features work by artist Patrick J. O'Connor, with owners Mary and Patrick O'Connor actively seeking out artists of all genres for inclusion in the space.

Owners, Mary and Patrick O'Connor would like to invite the public to the grand opening for 60 East Gallery on Saturday, November 21 from 5–8pm. The opening will feature a mix of Patrick O'Connor's watercolor, acrylics and mixed media paintings, plus jewelry by a glassmaker from Binghamton. Please join Mary and Patrick for an hors d'oeuvres and champagne reception on Saturday evening.

The new Market Street location is one of four galleries opened in November by the O'Connors, a married couple who met in Ithaca at Patrick's gallery. The other locations, one in Elmira and two in Ithaca, only include work by Patrick J. O'Connor. The 60 East Gallery will be the only location that will sell work by artists other than Patrick. Mary plans to seek out a full range of artists that work in sculpture, jewelry, oil, watercolor, pastels, and pottery. She will put out a call to artists. Featured artists will change frequently, and the community can expect fun and engaging opening parties.

Owner of 60 East Gallery, Mary O'Connor says, "I made the choice to open a gallery and leave corporate America because I believe in Patrick's talent. I want to be a part of a select group of talented artists and give them a beautiful arena in our gallery on Market Street to show their heartfelt work and skills to a large and vast group of people."

"We always tossed around the idea of opening a gallery on Market Street and a couple twists of fate lead us to 60 East in October. The space is ideal for our vision of owning a high end gallery. We feel that there is a market for it in this area. We went for it and we could not be more excited to be open for the Holiday season in Corning."

Coleen Fabrizi, Executive Director for Corning's Gaffer District stated, "The diversity of our downtown cultural experience is enhanced yet again by the addition of 60 East Gallery, another fantastic reason to #ExploreCorning and enjoy work from some of the region's most talented artists. We are delighted to welcome them to Corning's Gaffer District."

Current hours for 60 East Gallery are Tuesday through Saturday from 10am-6pm, and Mary will be available by appointment.
