Corning Museum Of Glass
Discover a New Perspective on Glass
We're big on glass in downtown Corning! So much so that we have the world's largest glass museum, the Corning Museum of Glass, nestled right in the middle of the Gaffer District.
Whether you're a family looking for an adventure or an artist looking for inspiration, you'll discover something for everyone at the Corning Museum of Glass. The world's largest glass museum offers the opportunity for visitors to explore over 50,000 objects representing 3,500 years of glassmaking history. Plan a visit to the Museum to discover works ranging from a small Egyptian pharaoh's head to an enormous Tiffany window, and uncover the wonder and artistry behind glassmaking. Make sure to explore the stunning day-lit Contemporary Art + Design Wing, which houses the best of the last 25 years in glass, and a 500-seat Amphitheater Hot Shop, a space dedicated to live glass demos and design sessions.
Hot Glass Demos
We're pretty passionate about the art of glassblowing in downtown Corning. And what better way to experience that passion than with a live Hot Glass Demo at the Corning Museum of Glass. During your visit, you'll gain a unique appreciation for the skill and artistry behind glassblowing as you witness a gaffer (another term for a master glassblower) take glowing gobs of molten glass on the end of a pipe and skillfully shape them into vases, bowls, or sculptures. Glassblowing demonstrations are offered all day, every day, and are included in the cost of your admission to the Museum. Don't miss out on the fun!
Make Your Own Glass
After seeing all of the exhibits the Corning Museum of Glass has to offer, we bet you'll be inspired to experience glassmaking for yourself during a Make Your Own Glass experience, with projects for all ages for an additional fee.
