Celebrating its 15th year, the Corning's Gaffer District is pulling out all the stops to make this the biggest and best event yet. From May 24th to May 26th, downtown Corning, NY, will transform into a hub of excitement, creativity, and community spirit, offering something for everyone to enjoy.
Friday: Let the Festivities Begin!
The excitement kicks off at noon in Centerway Square with the traditional Glass Ribbon Cutting ceremony, followed by a mesmerizing display of glassblowing demonstrations courtesy of the Corning Museum of Glass. Witness master artisans craft intricate works of art right before your eyes, showcasing the beauty and skill of glassmaking.
As the afternoon rolls on, all five historic blocks of Market St. will come alive with a vibrant mix of street vending, dining, and entertainment. That night, take the chance to catch the first FREE concert of the Rock the Park series concert in Riverfront Centennial Park, featuring the iconic 90s alternative rock band, Everclear. Get ready to rock out and relive the nostalgia under the stars.
Saturday: Fun for All Ages
Saturday promises another full day of GlassFest fun for the whole family. Whether you're a yoga enthusiast, a seasoned runner, or simply looking to explore the bustling streets of downtown Corning, there's something for everyone to enjoy.
Start your day with a rejuvenating free yoga class in the park or lace up your sneakers for the Wineglass 8k race, a beloved local tradition. Then, fuel up with a freshly brewed coffee from one of the many local shops and embark on a leisurely stroll down Market St. Discover over 100 unique vendors and fine artists showcasing their craft, alongside beloved local shops offering a treasure trove of goods.
As you meander through the streets, be sure to stop by the kids' fun zone, where the local YMCA will keep the little ones entertained with a variety of activities. Live music will fill the air on each block, complemented by a FREE Magic Show at the Val Reep Fountain that's sure to dazzle audiences of all ages. Plus, don't miss the special performances by The Allegany River Seneca Dancers, offering demonstrations and interactive activities on Block 5 (Market Street between Chestnut and Bridge Streets) all afternoon!
And the excitement doesn't end there! Stick around for the FREE concert in the park on Saturday night, featuring the rising country star, Graham Barham. After the concert, prepare to be awed as fireworks light up the night sky over the Chemung River, providing a spectacular finale to an unforgettable day.
Sunday: Finishing Strong
On Sunday, we're pulling out all the stops to ensure the weekend ends on a high note. Start your morning with Yoga in the Park, then dive back into the festivities with more street vendors, live music, magic, live art demos, shopping, and outdoor dining.
As the afternoon rolls around, make your way to the park for a special concert by PA Line and Memorial Day Salute, honoring those who have served and sacrificed to protect our country. It's a fitting conclusion to a weekend filled with celebration, community, and gratitude.
